New Beginnings

I was working in Wellingborough for a company who were very nice but the job was driving me mad. I was coming home miserable and unhappy and like most people if you are unhappy with your daily job then do not do it. So I quit.
Have found myself a great job driving cars around the country delivering and collecting them. They are all top end motors. Most days I am home by the afternoon.
I had been out of touch with the car trade for only a year but in that time the change in cars and the equipment that now comes as standard, is bewildering, not to mention Mercedes that park themselves. Some of these models have so many features it would take some time to discover them all and some that you may never discover or indeed ever require!
I am sure that it will not be that long before we have vehicles that will everyday take us to where we are going and all we will do is turn them on.
If you have to work, do a job you enjoy and not one you have too because that's all there is. If you look hard enough and long enough you can find what you want, it might take perseverance but better to be happy than miserable and maybe better paid.

Weather

As one gets older one feels the cold more keenly than when one's blood flowed a little better and so body warmth is harder to generate. Not withstanding that, I cannot recall a winter as consistently cold as the one we have just experienced. It is March (you may have noticed) and naturally we were expecting a little spring warmth but instead we have had arctic conditions! My house had lacked heating for several days due to a faulty boiler, leaving it like a fridge and warmth only possible if one had taken to a heavily covered bed sans hot water bottle!
Is it global warming? Has the natural order of the climate changed so as we can no longer predict what the seasons weather will bring? Or is it the natural cycle of the planet and would have come along irrespective of what humans have done to it? All I know is it is bloody cold out there and I do not like it!
Yet more encouragement to move to a more temperate climate.

Work

I have been offered a job in Wellingborough selling advertising for schools. Well done me. It was not difficult, after all I am brilliant at interviews and so erudite it is frightening. Articulate is my middle name. Intelligent beyond the dreams of those who interview the ordinary person. My superior experience and stunning skill set which would put most people to shame! I have a presentation of myself that does frighten the average interviewer. I have a manner which intimidates and impresses the interviewer so they can do no more then giving me the job. If you cannot give me the position after the interview then there is something wrong with the interviewer, because I am superb! I have the interview technique of a genius. Be wary if you happen to advertise a job and decide to interview me for it, you will be unable to turn me away for the job. I am an interview specialist and so modest about it!

Moan

I am the last person in the world to prevent anyone having a rant and a rave in print, after all I have done so many times myself. Indeed you only have to read my opening statement on this page! However, I am fed up with all of those Facebook entries which highlight pat statements lifted from various published works, or passed on, that complain about what goes on in the UK by accentuating acts that take place in other hard line regimes, usually of some barbaric or exaggerated punishment for a seemingly minor misdemeanor?
Yes the UK has an easy going, some may say generous, in it's way of dealing with immigration. Yes perhaps we do give benefits away too easily? Maybe this country is a little to liberal in it's attitude, often to the detriment of it's native population. Ask yourself this, would you rather live in a regime where liberty is trampled and freedom severely limited. Where they have a justice system that is dictatorial and has no room for flexibility and sentences are far more draconian?
There are many countries in the world where these things that we take for granted have no meaning, where what we understand as fair and just is crushed underneath the boot of an oppressive ruler or religious creed or both. The price we pay for democracy and freedom (such as it is) is a generous society that accepts people from other places. We may not like it and we take the good with the bad.
The UK does appear, alongside a few other nations, to be the policeman of the world and for good reason, we are good at it. The reasons are not always clear and no doubt our involvement is based on false premise and commercial and economic protection (oil?). Our presence is not always welcome, often by us. I for one would rather we withdrew from Afghanistan but at the same time depending on who you believe, we have achieved a measure of success, in a country, where it is proven that any success is hard if not impossible to achieve.
To all of you people out there who wish to complain or use a ready written complaint about this country in which we live, just stop and think would you rather be in these places you often compare us with? I think not. Britain is
not the best place on the planet (not even close!) but it is far from being the worst. I understand the posting of these statements are to make a point and often it is a point worth making but try writing your own prose and not publishing glib ready made moans!

After three months of work, I have joined the unemployed again. No big deal another employment will come along at some point. The need for work at my age is purely for monetary purposes, I have no ambition or desire to start any kind of career. The desire is to do as little work as possible for the most amount of reward! It may sound mercenary but that is the truth of it. I have often discussed in this blog that there must be an alternative, legal, way of earning without necessarily following the well trodden path of the last, however long it has been, years of jobs as we know them. I will not re-iterate the plethora of other self- employed directions one could follow, most, if not all of that lifestyle crap is bollocks!
On a lighter note I have started drawing again, I had forgotten the pleasure it gives me, I am not a good artist but I do have a style all of my own? I like patterns and shapes and how you build up a picture from a few lines into what some may consider a mess but at least it is my mess here is a sample:

Snow!

The ground covered in crisp white snow. A blanket of pristine frozen powder laid out over paths, roads and fields. A picture post card of winter wonder. I love the snow it is well....white! You can sled and build snowmen, have snowball fights and go home early from work! It's fantastic I always look forward to snow every year.....fabulous!
BOLLOCKS....... just taking the piss!

Ah 2013

Ah does not the year already depart at a rapid rate? January 16th already and never called me mother. Where does the time fly? Before we know it it will be ......well later! Days, weeks, months, years they just slide pass like snakes slithering through the undergrowth. 60 years have passed for me and they go like the proverbial passing of the wind. Time ticks away and we barely notice. Most spent in the pointless pursuit of well nothing.
Say a fond farewell to Jessops, HMV and Blockbusters and buy a computer, because soon all of your shopping will be online. Time ticks on but never stands still. Spare a thought for all of those who find their employment severed. 16 days and their whole lives are altered. Treasure each moment don't let the time go past without remembering every inch of it!

New Year Resolutions

At this turn of a new year it is traditional to turn ones thoughts to improvements, desires, ambitions and the need for change. It is not the sole preserve of wishing for change, resolutions can be entered into at any time. The new year does however provide a natural break and invite one to find the impetus to do things differently. Those of you who read my blogs and know me, will now expect a tirade against the impotence of the desire to improve oneself but I am not going to. I am a firm believer in improving yourself and eliminating those habits that you no longer want. Indeed I would encourage everyone to court the desire for improvement (for the right reasons), of course the time you choose to do this can be whenever you want.
So if you have decided to make a new years resolution, more power to you and do not listen to those who will deride your ambition. Do not concern yourself if you do not succeed or your new found enthusiasm does not last, at least you have tried and the next time maybe you will be successful and have the previous experience to guide one the next time!
Of course I write this from the perspective of one who set himself a target last year (not at the new year) and whilst I am still working towards its total success, I am about 87% of the way there.
Persevere and then persevere some more, you can achieve what you set out to do, be positive and never listen to naysayers!
