 They are handing out fines to those naughty people at No 10. We don’t know which ones, oh dear! Will the PM resign? Of course not! He is shored up by so many people in the background, in newspapers, big business and yes the Russians, that removing him is next to impossible. I know I have screamed about how horrendous this government is and I cannot understand why we have not risen up in our millions to tell them that must go! We are a nation whose reputation and economic and social fabric has been decimated by this bunch of fucking morons. No excuse is big enough, not Brexit (which the Tories and Farage caused) not the pandemic, not the war in Ukraine. Just think how bad things would be if they had not had those problems to deal with? Do you honestly think that under “normal” circumstances there would not be much more corruption and mismanagement? They are bad enough when there hand was forced to help, had it not been, the situation could be far far worse as they ran rampant over our freedoms and isolated us even further. Don’t think for a moment that in better times this PM and his cohort of idiots would have made your life better, well not unless you were wealthy to begin with! 

Prices are rising, inflation is rising, Covid is rising, there are more people in poverty, children going hungry, immigration a dirty word, corruption rife, freedom being torn away, is this a country your proud of? We have been lied to so many times at an unprecedented rate, that the truth is a commodity so precious we’re not sure if we recognise it! 

I paint a miserable picture and I wish that were not the case. There are good things, there is happiness, we cans laugh, we have each other but this is in spite of a regime that cares little for us or about us.

 Immigration

I have written about this extensively in the past and my view has not changed. I have no fear of those who need refuge for any reason. I have travelled the world and I can tell you from my own experience that most people want what most of us want, a way to live, be happy, be with their family and live their lives peacefully. There is no hidden agenda or ulterior motive, no desire to to replace the indigenous population, take our jobs, make our lives difficult, only a desire to escape poverty ( a mute point in the UK!) violence, persecution, war and to have a better life. Unless you are desperate or have no choice, why would anyone undertake the danger and terror of travelling across seas or across hostile territory to reach a place of safety. As for “undesirable elements” being able to infiltrate our country, if that is the case then coming as a refugee is a very stupid way of doing it and under our system you are unlikely to enter anyway!

There is no doubt, despite this governments constant assertion they are generous in their approach to immigration, we are led by a Home Secretary and PM who are xenophobic and will do anything they can to put barriers in place to limit the entrance of any migrant and make the red tape as difficult and restrictive as possible. They talk a good story but their actions and real intentions are to keep as many out as possible. Human compassion are only words to them, they are meaningless coming out of their mouths and pay lip service to what they think we want to hear.

We all know this and rightly condemn their pathetic excuses of checks and security but no minds will be changed and they will continue to pursue their relentless ambition to limit immigration with as many road blocks as they can get away with!!

When you have an 80 seat majority and ruthless whips who threaten and bully, you can say whatever needs to be said and then turn round and do the opposite, as they have consistently done in many votes.

If you still have even a scintilla of support for Boris, if you still believe he is doing a great job then you are deluded and have not understood. I am not naive I know there are many in this country who agree with government policy, many who hate the idea of any immigration and already despise those who have made their home in the UK. 

I would ask those who families have been immigrants and now take this view what the hell are you thinking? Fear is a powerful tool and it has been used by many a public figure to make us afraid for their own purpose. A fearful population is easily manipulated and led, do not listen to them!

We have seen the generosity of the British public, we know we are a welcoming nation, we are accepting and compassionate, don’t let this hateful government win.

The time will come and this Conservative government will fall.

Last nights Oscar incident was bound to grab headlines but in reality like the Oscars themselves, are, in the great scheme of things completely unimportant. Yes he should not have slapped him and yes Rock should perhaps have thought better of the “Joke“ in the first place but does it really matter……..no? It will be forgotten in a matter of days although no doubt both men will milk it on the eternal round of late night talk shows that abound the US networks. 

Little left to say, we are still recovering from COVID and life goes on.

We are still testing positive and though the govt. website advises to isolate we would be breaking no rules if we went out in public and presumably infected others?  This is a nonsense! Without being vaccinated who knows how bad this virus would have been? Whatever, it is horrible and with a very few exceptions would not wish it on anybody!

 This is my 769th blog that will not be read by anyone. Covid still lingers and to say it is a bastard of a virus is an understatement. Your whole body feels as though it has gone on strike and although I have had a “mild” case it has been debilitating to say the least! There being no restrictions we could have gone out with impunity and spread the infection without any consequence to ourselves. Actually you are so ill the last thing you want to do is move around but shopping is still required and unless you have someone to help you have to do it yourselves! Due to my brush with Leukaemia over 20 years ago I have weakened lungs and at the moment I sound like a pair of rusty bellows, permanently wheezing. Still at least Wendy knows where to find me and it is proof I am still alive!

I wanted to write yet again about our horrific government but frankly I am bored with my own rhetoric and despair at the state of our country. A woman wrote this morning that even if you disagree with someone over their view on Brexit you should not call them stupid? I replied that she is quite correct, you should not but in this case I reserve the right to do so! We have been conned and deceived at every turn and worse there have been little or no consequences to those who have perpetrated this fraud on the British public. They continue to do so safe in the knowledge that they will not be punished or have to resign and so they continue to lie and cheat with impunity! So much has been said and so little done, indeed much of what has happened is the opposite of what has been stated. If you have a government that is corrupt then why should any organisation not behave in the same way?

So I did write some more about our horrific government, sorry!

 So finally tested positive on a lateral flow although ironically I feel better than I did yesterday. I had co-existed with Wendy who had been positive since last Sunday which just shows how unpredictable this virus is. Now of course under the freeing up of the rules I could still go about my business and not self-isolate and probably infect others but of course being a sensible person I will minimise contact or avoid it completely.

As predicted have you noticed that gradually Ukraine is drifting down the news cycle and as one month goes by it will just be another “thing” that is going on in the world! Of course if Putin does something even more horrendous than he has already it will shoot up the charts once more but already you can feel the fatigue setting in as this planned “quick” invasion drags on because of the bravery and fortitude of the Ukrainian people. The threat of nuclear weapons seems pointless to me (though Putin is completely bonkers) as it would destroy Russia as much as any where and everywhere else! 

What a pathetic bland pointless statement our Chancellor made yesterday. He did nothing of any significance and did not help a sole. I understand that we do not have a bottomless pit of funds but to do so little for hard working families already under enormous financial pressure is abandoning a huge section of the public. Once again the is Tory government have shown a lack of understanding and compassion, whilst there leader stands at the despatch box spouting figures that are lies and making promises he will never keep. Remember the “party gate” scandal has not concluded and there is more than enough evidence showing his involvement with Russia. 

We have been lied to and deceived for so long that it is almost impossible to know even a scintilla of what the real truth is. Those who were duped by this scumbag of a leader and still believe he is the right man for the job should understand that he cares little for your support or your situation as long as he is in power. There are no words left to describe this pudgy haystack and his constant disgraceful behaviour and some how he remains in office when not that many years ago both he and his ministers would have resigned in shame, how times have changed and how this lot are undermining the law that could hold them to account. 

We have to collectively get everyone to understand that we are in the grip of the most corrupt lying bunch that has ever governed and they must be ousted asap!

 Well Covid has struck. Wendy has got it and both my son an his wife Alex have. So if you think for one moment that now all restrictions have been lifted we are free, think again. One in twenty people are affected at present, think about that for one moment, one in twenty of our population of 67 million. Somehow, thus far I have proved to be negative but who knows how long that will last? We don’t know what strain she has but I can tell you it is nasty. The cough alone makes you wince! As we said last night we are still far better off than many others in the UK and certainly in Ukraine! 

It does not take an idiot to understand the sharp rise in cases has been caused by the lifting of Covid restrictions. It is a double edged sword, keeping restrictions is well restrictive but lifting them always presented the risk of the infection rate rising. If we are following the science then it is obvious that we still need some caution and restriction or this will once again get out of control. This virus is highly infectious and we know that just being vaccinated is not fully protective. 

So we will continue to take precautions, wear a mask in supermarkets etc and I would suggest we all do the same. Believe me you do not want even a “mild” case of this virus!

 I am struggling to look at anything that highlights the horrors that are going on. My threshold has been overrun. Not for one moment am I comparing my news fatigue with the unimaginable disaster that others are experiencing, I just am having difficulty digesting it all. When you have a PM who makes such odious comparisons, the shame you feel having this small minded moron in charge is overwhelmingly! Someone said he has to apologise but how many times has he had to and still he remains? The irony is the Conservatives are eroding so many of our freedoms that we have far less than when we were members of the EU. I am sick to my stomach over his continued crass remarks. If he was advised it was okay to make that comment he still should have known better, if he put it in himself it just shows what a fucking knob he is!

As someone commented this morning there are those who still think that Johnson is doing a great job and then there are those who think! Any shred of credibility or integrity that might have remained has disappeared. It must be so embarrassing to be a member of this Conservative party and have to defend leaders, who are so out of touch they may as well be living in a different country? 

I suggest they all stop talking, tweeting or getting photo ops and get on with it without another word. They only look stupid when they open their collective mouths!

What the world has done to deserve such a pest as the Human race is beyond understanding but the quicker it get us gone the better!

 The horror continues and the longer it does the less of an issue it will become. Oh it’s just the war in Ukraine! Putin has to be stopped and destroyed or there will never be peace in Europe, it is that simple. All the posturing, words, meetings, sanction and sympathy are meaningless unless action is taken. This is not a video game this is real life and all the nonsense over taking people in who are fleeing that war torn country, which has been a disgusting procrastination by our weak fearful government, is a distraction from what needs to be done! What a bunch of cowardly people we are, I understand we have a nuclear threat and I would not put it past Putin to use it, he could care less but that is the point, he does not care what chaos he causes and he has to be stopped. Now call me a warmonger but as things stand I am at a loss as to how else it can be done? He may appear to respond to peace talks but his demands are are going to be impossible for the Ukrainian people to accept. Thousands are dying on both sides and for what, so as one madman can fulfil his insatiable desire to win back territory lost in the Soviet collapse, under the guise of completely false fear of the West. He has no thought for his own people or any damage he does to his own country, he never has, he still operates under the same premise that remains from Communist rule, he was one and he has never changed.

 I have not written for a few days because I no longer know what to say. There is so much bollocks swilling around at present that it is almost impossible to understand anything! The Ukraine “invasion” has skewed the news and caused such horror that almost everything else pales into insignificance. Yet as usual the true colours of the usual suspects come to the fore and reveal their shallow heartless behaviour. Our country has been for some time all talk and no action or the wrong action. We no longer seem to be able to do what is right and proper without a massive outcry as the government shows little compassion or sensitivity. It only shows the contempt that they hold the public in and how wrong they are so often are. I do not deny the UK are doing a lot to help the Ukraine struggle but the time it took for us to show some real kindness for the people fleeing that disaster was disgusting. Once more we showed how petty we have become. This government seems to be more about photo ops and claiming their international standing then any real substance. Once again Johnson tries to show he is leading and once again he fumbles at every turn. 

They are trying to persuade us that everything is alright with the UK when we all know it far far from the truth. They are trying to persuade us that Brexit was a step forward for Britain when we all know it was two steps back. They are trying to persuade us that they are helping with the rising cost of living when we all know they are constantly making it worse. Worst of all they are trying to persuade us that Covid is a thing of the past when we all know the daily rate of infection is still high and so are the deaths. There are other strains coming but its ok because the “economy” is far more important than our survival!

 I don’t know about you, but I have fallen into this no mans land of not wanting to know about the horror of Ukraine, whilst at the same time needing to find out what is happening!

The terror of a democratic European country fighting against an aggressor intent on destroying it, is beyond any words. I have made my opinion clear and it hasn’t changed, short of some miracle peace accord, the West have to take up arms and stop this. Putin cannot stop, he has far to much invested in this crime, not least of all his own future. 

The Russian propaganda gets more and more outrageous and one gets the impression they don’t really believe it themselves but have to respond in this way to justify their madness. I am sure not everything the West is saying is accurate but you have to fight fire with fire. 

The bravery and sheer heroism shown by Ukraine is a lesson for us all on how to never give in to a bully, though this goes way beyond bullying. When you confront an aggressor like Putin, he doubles down on his aggression and comes up with more and more lies to convince his people and probably himself? The war has not gone according to plan, that much is obvious and now he will do whatever it takes to win. What are we going to do when he takes over Ukraine, throw our collective hands up in horror and hope the it all goes away? He will not stop, once he has taken a huge territory like Ukraine what is to stop him from keeping going, other than his own logistics or lack of troops? World war 3 is not a prospect that anyone can contemplate and the destruction it would cause does not bare thinking about but we have to stop him, perhaps a classic Catch 22?

We know Putin will use more and more destructive tactics, he’s done it before, he holds life cheaply, both that of Ukrainians and his own soldiers. He cares little for how much death and destruction he causes, as long as his objective is achieved and he can label himself a hero of the people and thank all his brave troops for keeping Russia safe!

The hardship of his own people means little to him. He has them in a tight grip and he knows they may protest but they will not rise up and overthrow him. We can destabilise his country all we like, impose as much economic damage as we can but we are fools if we think this will deter his planned aggressions! After all none of the sanctions really affect him, it’s not like he is going to be welcomed anywhere else or his own standard of living will decrease. 

There is only one way to defeat him and we all know what it is? The real question is do we have the stomach for the fight?

 As this horror continues and we sit each day at our comfy warm breakfast table, the thought that the threat of an escalation in hostilities as entered the minds of many people. A friend of mine expressed how he has gone to bed and upon hearing aircraft above for one moment panicked it could be an attack! Yes it’s highly unlikely and call it a form of paranoia but the reaction is understandable under the present crisis. We all have differing views and opinions. Mine have always been clear with regard to our government and in the past I have said a number of times that the West should be very frightened of Putin. It is easy to say I told you so and is meaningless but as we all struggle to digest the unfolding tragedy in Ukraine, we cant help but fell useless and speechless.

If and it is a big “if” this horrific aggression by Russia has the effect of bringing the world into sharp focus in it’s combined condemnation of Putin then perhaps it really can be a “watershed” moment albeit one that has bloodshed on our hands! There have been many conflicts and wars, none other than the World War have shocked us enough to bring about peace. We must not forget that in places like Yemen, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria conflict is still going on. The peace between Israel and Palestine is fragile, Maymar, North Korea and China also live under brutal regimes that tolerate no democratic rights for it’s people and crush any and all rebellious behaviour. Yes Ukraine is in Europe and the threat seems very real and far to close but we have allowed and caused conflicts all over the world with the West’s constant interference in the name of democracy. Now when the need is greater than ever we sit back and only offer our help in a limited fashion. I completely understand the reluctance to go to war with Russia and I share that reluctance but when are we going to say enough is enough? Will it be when the Russian have destroyed Ukraine and Russian boots now stand on the borders of the surrounding States or will it be when those boots cross those borders?  

The nuclear threat is real and cannot be ignored but why Russia court it’s own destruction just to destroy the West. Putin is obviously completely mad, anyone who is doing what he is must be but he has to stopped and your cannot sit on the side condemning the atrocities forever!

 It’s fairly obvious that our government for all it’s rhetoric and best intentions is under the thumb of Russian money and influence. Why else would they give the Oligarchs notice of their intentions and make it so difficult to let Ukrainians into the UK? The three prominent ministers, Prime, Home and Foreign have proved once more how corrupt and lacking in any compassion they are. They talk big but in reality do little or make it extremely difficult. While the waltz around, standing for photo’s and appearing to be statesman like, the situation in and from Ukraine gets more horrific and we do nothing concrete about it!

They applaud Zalensky and tell him how brave he and his people are and yet we re standing on the sidelines, hoping they will defeat Russia and we won’t have to commit to any fighting! What a crock of shit! The West maybe cutting Putin and Russia off but it won’t stop Putin, he is bound and determined to continue no matter what the consequences? Unless he is usurped internally or the Russian people truly learn the truth, he will not stop. He can’t, he would be finished. We have to confront him and show him the painful truth of his act of barbaric aggression? 

We may have moved on from WW2 and certainly we do not want WW3 but there comes a time when this aggression has to be met with collective resistance and stopped. Indeed Putin wants it to happen, because it will prove what he has been saying all along but that is no reason not to. He knows that if the West does get militarily involved he has lost and he must lose!

 As I sit here in my warm kitchen, drinking my second cup of tea, the overwhelming sadness and disgust for our government and it’s complete hypocrisy makes me ashamed!

I cannot express the words to describe my depression regarding the Ukraine. People are fleeing this warn torn disaster and what are we doing except putting up the same old tired barriers and restrictions of red tape and bureaucracy in the path of people who need refuge! What absolute bunch of shits we are! I never thought I would live in a country that is so self absorbed in restricting desperate people’s access to safety. 

As for Boris’s 6 point plan, what a fucking joke, as usual he tries to play the part of world statesman and as usual he fails miserably, what a tosser that man is! Still if we thought for one minute, after everything we have seen since he became PM, he and his ministers would behave in a human and decent manner, then we were fools! Still at least he is not Putin and that is not much in the way of praise! 

I don’t want to keep watching the horror of the Ukraine but at the same time cannot stop. I am a peaceful man and hate the idea of violence but we must resist this Russian aggression with force. He will not listen to any entreaties to stop. He has committed them to invasion and the resistance will only make him take more extreme measures. My heart is heavy when I say there is only one way to stop him and he must be stopped.

 Good morning and how are you feeling today? Wendy has told me, the news is making her too anxious and she can’t watch anymore! Everyone I have spoken to discusses the main news of the moment and shrugs in resignation at the futility and helplessness of feeling powerless! Our mental well being has been severely tested in the last 4 or 5 years and if you thought 2022 was going to see at least some improvement that wish has been blown away, like candy floss in the wind! We have to stay strong but even for the most resilient of us that is no easy task? If your mental health is already shaky or fragile your equilibrium is under huge pressure. We maybe thousands of miles away from the action but none of us feel safe or comfortable and it is so easy to imagine the threat coming closer to home or a nuclear attack.  

I have lived for almost 70 years and watched hundreds of conflicts and wars. None of them has had any direct impact on me and mine, other than an economic one and that is nothing compared to the hell the people directly involved and specifically the civilian populations suffer. These tragedies never end, the conflicts have long lasting repercussions and some never end in any true sense. We are still experiencing the fallout from the end of WW2 as the Russian madman laments the dissolution of the Soviet block and tries to re-establish Russia’s hold over those former states. 

It seems we have learnt nothing from history, littered as it is with the strong having dominated the weak until more enlightened attitudes prevail. Nothing changes, peace is ephemeral and aggression and killing still dictates one countries aggression towards another. We crave peace and yet there are always men (and it’s always men) whose megalomaniac ambition dissolves that peace in a heartbeat. The people do usually prevail but the price paid is always to high and the fallout much too big!

I have to repeat, with a heavy heart and a desperate wish for no more loss of life that the only way to stop Putin is to match his aggression with ours. It’s not what we want but he shows no sign of adhering to any words or diplomatic effort, he only understands violence and therefore must be like all bullies given a bloody nose! I understand the horror of nuclear threat that might trigger but I see little alternative for any other solution.

Even the sanctions and other economic moves are not happening quickly enough. It is simple seize everything Russian and if happens to affect innocent Russians then blame Putin after all he started it. I wish no hardship on anyone but for the greater good, take it all?

I apologise for being so downbeat and I genuinely hope that this madness can be resolved peacefully and as soon as possible. We must do everything we can to stay strong and help those who need it. I’ve never understood why it is so easy to start destruction and death when it is so much easier for everyone including the aggressor to live in peace. What actual good will it do for Putin to “rule” Ukraine? He will be in a country that hates him and will continue to resist forever. It’s not like the NATO countries or the EU want to attack him. Indeed all we want to do is trade with them and be friends with his people.

I have not written for a few days because I am to sad and helpless and full of anger! I suggest that pretty much sums up the feelings of many of us? It pains me to write this but it is time we stopped talking and posturing around the edge with all the sanctions etc and bombed the hell out of Putins forces. One swift massive strike! I do not and have never advocated war but there are times when there is no alternative and this is one of them. I understand that we do not want to provoke this madman into nuclear war but we cannot allow this aggression to go unchecked. The longer we sit back the worse it will get and Putin knows that he can continue because we are not prepared to defend Ukraine. Yes of course we must use every means at our disposal and the diplomatic route must be given every chance. It is clear that he does not care and it’s not listening. Ukraine maybe putting up a tougher resistance than he imagined but it won’t stop the Russian advance and their tactics will get worse and the death toll will rise. The West has to strike. Our combined air power would be enough to blast a massive hole in his advance? It could be the only thing that will stop this maniac? 

We cannot allow him to get away with it like we did with the Crimea? Where next, if he keeps invading Balkan states are we going to stand by and just let him. The fact that Ukraine is not a member of NATO is irrelevant, we have to draw a line and this is it. 

The West have got bit the bullet and attack him with massive force because it is the only thing Putin understands. It is a horrible course of action but there is no choice.
