I have not written for some time. Odd considering the avalanche of stuff that has been going on? It has been so disheartening and depressing, that I could not bring myself to put words on the page as every other one would have been an expletive! Since I last wrote we have had two unelected PM’s. We have had a Conservative Party that has been and is increasingly so unfit to govern that it has passed beyond parody! The same old faces shuffled about into various government posts and as has been the case for so long talking utter bollocks! Naturally Labour are getting their fair share of flake, as you would expect, some of it well deserved, most because they have such a huge lead over the Tories in the polls. Those polls are meaningless and if we are still two years out from a general election are baseless and certainly no real indicator of how we will vote!

Economic austerity and balancing the economy is not the way to get our country out of the current malaise. Spending money is the way to go and everyone knows it, you cannot run a country like household economics. Our debt is not due until 2050 and easily serviced at 3 billion a year, a mere pittance in the vast amounts we talk about each day! Investment and massive stimulation of our economy is what is needed, not mealy mouthed intentions to “balance the books”! It is a barely thinly disguised move towards privatisation of our NHS and other institutions. We must stop being in thrall to the markets and actually look after the people, thats what we vote for!

I notice that there are many who still deny “climate change” You would need to be blind, deaf and dumb not to have noticed. Unfortunately, as always, the wheels turn too slowly and the damage will probably be irreparable! As for the Stop Oil protests, like many, I agree with the message but not the method of delivery, having said that there are many changes that would not have happened without public disorder and protests, not least of all the vote for women!

The state of our world is not a good one at this time and in truth has not been for many many years.

Wendy and I have our own little ray of sunshine in the form of our granddaughter Hanna, now 4 months old and as easy going baby as you could wish for!

Stay well
