What a world! Peace an ephemeral ghost of dreams! Whilst it is terrible what Hamas and Hiz Bola have perpetrated against Israel, what did they expect after all the destruction Israel has caused on the West Bank? Did the Israelis think they could carry on with impunity and have no fear of reprisal? It is a tragedy but one could easily argue that it was brought on by their own arrogance and constant aggression towards Palestinians!
The West naturally throws their hands up and almost unequivocally supports Israel, in spite of the many reports over recent time of all the atrocities carried out against Palestinian. The Israeli government is extremely “right” wing and their hard line attitude has hastened this conflict and now many lives have been lost. Their response, perhaps understandable, is to retaliate in as an aggressive a manner as possible.
We a have never ending number of conflicts, wars, fighting and simmering tensions, al over the world. We are seemingly unable to learn from history! The Ukraine war is stumbling into another winter, with neither side able to make any progress. Discontent is the prevailing atmosphere in many countries in Europe, not least our own, as the interminable Conservative govt. clings to power and pronounces more stupidity every day and the doubles down when challenged, which happens far to little. I am rapidly com to the conclusion that Sunak, is actually worse than the four PMs that preceded him and when you consider two were Johnson and Truss, that is saying something!
On a brighter note we are enjoying being grandparents, Hanna is 15 months today. She is an absolute delight, although Wendy and I flop down exhausted after our two days a week of caring for her!
