Day 194

Before our trip to Crete I made a vow to stop reading the news. I have failed. On our break I have looked at the BBC news app three or four times a day! Now we have been back since last Thursday and each day is more depressing than the next. It’s a litany of poor decisions and corrupt ignorance. We live in unprecedented times while this nasty Covid does it’s thing and all it has done is bring into stark relief how appalling our government is at handling a crisis. Many of us shouted loudly what a mistake it was to have Boris as PM but the voters did it anyway and now look! Granted the alternative was not palatable either but what a shambles this lot have made of it! Every picture or video clip you see of Boris and his cabinet is embarrassing and makes them look utterly foolish. Yet again I read that this is not the time to discuss a pay rise for nurses! If not now when? Hand money right left and centre to your cronies by the millions but give the nurses a pay rise erm no! I think the entire medical profession should walk out on mass and tell the government they will not return until they get more pay! Of course they won’t because they irony is that the very fact that they care is the reason the government can safely ignore them! It is disgusting and shameful. I have written to my MP Michael Ellis and I urge you to write to yours to demand they either challenge the government from the opposition or from inside the Tory party!

Our country, irrespective of the Virus is going down the toilet and I for one cannot wait to leave it behind me permanently. I have felt this way for some long time and far from being reassured it will improve I am only more and more convinced it will be far far worse! Just look round your town or city and tell me things are good? Tell me there is not a distance so huge between the rich and the poor that it can never be bridged?

We are comfortable and speak from a position of strength. Other than the virus these things don’t affect us and we could just ignore it all and live in blissful ignorance but we are sure we want to do that somewhere else other than the UK!

Stay well
