Day 135
Two words for your delectation today.
Crambrazzled prematurely aged from too much drinking
Apanthropy dislike of society and a preference for solitude
Now lets get our collective teeth into my world of bitterness and disbelief!
Did you know that Trump is 74 and his opponent Biden is 77? What has happened to those younger man and women who could be candidates. Sadly though there might be a candidate who could be supported the money will always back the safe choice that won’t upset the status quo too much! Money talks and though there may be a few billionaires who run FB, Amazon and the like it is still the “old” money that dictates the pattern of politics both abroad and at home.
Until we collectively understand that the pursuit of wealth is meaningless we will never progress and build the world that most of us would like. There will always be those who want the power to dictate to the rest of us. Enlightened leaders are rare and at present you could believe there are none around. The systems we have in place are so corrupt and beyond repair, that it is almost impossible to change them. Like trying to turn a fleet of tankers around in a force 9 gale!
I am not sure history will look back at these times with any great joy. Yes we have made advances in technology and science. Much has been advanced in lots of fields. Has it been at the expense of our societies? Is the vain daily ritual of staring into hand held devices stemmed the progress of human interaction? Yes they have enhanced our lives but our obsession with tablets and mobiles could be considered to be unhealthy (and I write as one who uses them everyday and is writing on one now) Our reliance on devices of all kinds may take the drudgery out of daily life But has it blunted our simple ability to be human? I am asking the questions to be provocative as I am no better than anyone else.
All of these philosophies pale into insignificance when there is still so much violence and death in the world and with all our advances we can’t control a virus that has spread it’s tendrils to all parts!
I hope you have a lovely weekend. Don’t overheat and
Stay well
