Day 11

It is apparent that this isolation will remain in force for some time yet. Our estimate, though we are no experts, is at least another 8 weeks possibly longer. I think it’s true to say the initial novelty has worn off and already there is a faint tedium to each day.
Exercise is good for the body and the mind. There are many activities (behave!) that can stimulate. The difference now,  this is an enforced situation and although technology is good, it cannot be a substitute for real human group activities and interaction. I hope that once we are back to “normal” it is a more inclusive and friendly country and world, than before? You have to be optimistic.

We missed the applause last night because we got engrossed in a film and forgot. It is no small thing to show your support and appreciation for those on the “front” line. Our health service and other support services for all there faults (not necessarily of their making) should rightly be praised for their dedication and care. We all understand the strain the service is under at the best of times and this pandemic has increased that strain beyond any acceptable level.
My daughter in law is a Matron with Intermediate Care and is always under pressure to provide care. The coming weeks will only get harder and our support is vital. My fear is that once this die down they will once again, be right where they were before it started!

Who knows what today will bring? Our condolences go to those who have lost loved ones due to this horrible virus.

Stay well
