Day 36 (and counting)
I am a member of the Humanists Society. Their philosophy most closely matches mine. Like all organisations I do not agree with all they stand for but broadly speaking I’m with them.
This morning I received an email asking if I would take part in a survey on the government website.
It refers to protecting children from schools that illegally impose religions. This will come as no shock to those who know me and anyone who has read any of my views. I am an atheist and vehemently against organised religion. I have no issue with faith or privately held beliefs, that is your business.
But back to the government survey. I followed the links and once there found the most unbelievable badly worded gobbledygook I have seen for a long time. Generally the government website is full of the most confusing language and officialdom. This survey was a shinning example of question of such nonsensical wording and structure you would need to be a linguist of unique talents to understand them. I confess in the end after at least trying to give sensible answers to the first few, I went into full blown fun and sarcasm mode and put in as ridiculous answer as the questions and there were 27 of them!
I understand that when you are writing questions to do with legislation there will be a certain jargon that most do not encounter on a daily basis but this was just impenetrable!!!!
Anyway on we go!
So what to do today. The weekly shop is on the schedule. Since this has begun I feel a little like Bono from U2
I still haven’t found what I’m looking for!
Stay well
