Todays word from Susie Dent (she of Dictionary Corner on Countdown and no I don’t watch it) IPSEDIXITISM the dogmatic insistence that something is “fact” without having any supporting evidence!
I also liked this Tweet from “The Tweet of God” Masks inhibit freedom in the same way life jackets inhibit drowning!
And from another Tweet and I paraphrase: Conspiracists theorise that there is a secret cabal a new illuminati that are secretly controlling the world? If so they are doing a fucking poor job of it!
The subject of leaving the EU has largely been forgotten as Covid has grabbed all the headlines. Remember it is still in the process of being negotiated and our negotiator is saying we will walk away without a trade deal and we will be fine with that! This government is stealthily withdrawing us from every safety standard on every level. We will have little or no rules in place to protect our rights as we have enjoyed for the last 50 odd years. Your human rights are being eroded. I don’t say all the rights we enjoyed under EU membership were tolerable, many were down right daft but this government will throw the baby out with the bath water!
A friend expressed surprise that I had not commented on the appointment of Tony Abbott the ex-Australian PM as an advisor to the Johnson regime? It is just another example, unpaid or not, of the insensitivity of Johnson and his advisors. Is he controversial? Yes. Then let’s appoint him. I have no real knowledge of whether he is actually qualified to carry out the role but why appoint another insensitive controversial person when you are already brimming over with them?
The news is a little slow at present and I am glad. All the stuff that is wrong with our world is still going on. The lunatics are stil running the asylum but at least they are relatively quiet about it!
