Day 125

As I sit at my dinning table drinking my second cup of tea, I look back at the last 125 days since the lockdown was announced. Things have changed and we wonder if it will ever be the same again. It’s been a difficult and interesting time. It’s not been comfortable. Most of us have survived (so far) without harm. Have our lives changed, yes, some for the better some for the worse. Many have not survived and we must spare a thought for those families who have lost loved ones. Business has suffered, jobs have been lost, plans have been disrupted or cancelled for good.
I have written many times about my love of change and how I enjoy the unpredictability of it. One can only look forward, looking back will do you no favours you can’t change it, only learn whether good or bad! The world constantly throws up road blocks, it’s how you handle them that make you who you are. It is easy to loose your smile and fall into melancholy. I know what that is like and how difficult it is to regain some form of equilibrium, not I pleased to say through personal experience but having lived with others who suffered. It takes strength and determination to shake off the blues. I know for sure that only the individual can really help themselves, we can only support.
There is plenty to look forward too, improvement will come, it always does. Our society is used to a fast pace and getting what we want when we want it. Slow down, don’t rush, be patient, things will get better, maybe our need for our expected normality blinds us to the possibilities of the future opportunities. Philosophical bullshit, maybe but it is no less true! Maybe just maybe, it will allow us to focus on what is really important and you don’t need me to tell you what that is?
I had a schoolteacher who used to say “Take every opportunity the worse that can happen is you’ll learn”, it was he that gave me my love of language and English. I disliked school but in his English class the subject lived and I was engaged.
I understand it is easy for me to sit here and pontificate, you may have pressures and problems that are overwhelming and possibly insurmountable, maybe just putting food on the table is a major issue. Whatever your circumstances, I hope you are able to find some peace and happiness, if only briefly!

Stay well
