I read and hear a lot about obesity. It’s nothing new we have been getting bigger for many years. By now I think we all know the reasons. It’s not a mystery. For just as many years there have been a plethora of diets and methods to lose weight. Wendy is an expert in weight loss and I have a friend Tasha who is an advocate of low carb and healthy eating. Many fortunes have been made in the diet industry.
I have definitely been obese a number of times in my life and whilst I have never followed a strict diet I have certainly taken action at times to reduce my weight. This year after a slightly indulgent winter i have lost almost 8 kilos. I watch what I eat (mostly) exercise and rarely drink alcohol. Alcohol for me personally is a big cause of a fat belly!
For me the biggest gun I have in my arsenal is good old fashioned will power. I may be fortunate but when I decide to there is something I need to do to improve my health and lose weight, I have the mindset to carry it out and generally stick to it. I have said before I want to go into my seventies as fit as possible.
Well meaning intentions to achieve your goals are fine on paper, help form others to encourage you maybe essential but I am sure that the only real mindset you must develop is will power, determination to police your own actions for the better. We know that it is all in the mind? A strong mind is the key to any weight loss. So my advice is to train your mind to be resolute in your endeavours. Yes we will slip and occasionally over indulge (I loosen up on hols although not as much as maybe I used to) but as long as you stay steady you can achieve more than you might imagine. When you do, think of the smile on your face from the satisfaction of what you have done!
So develop will power.
Stay well
