Day 40
Now hands up those who thought that day would come? It’s almost biblical. (In a non believer’s way)
Apparently the phrase is “the new normal” which begs the question what did we consider to be normal in the first place? The word they are obviously struggling to use is “change”! Ask most people and they will tell you they don’t like change. I have never understood why. Change is stimulating. change makes life interesting. Change heralds new things. Change often allows the discard of stuff you no longer want. Change can be bad, disturbing, tragic, injurious, life altering. I have always embraced change, interested to find out where it may lead me. It’s probably with a couple of exceptions why I’ve never held a job for more than an average of two years. The same thing happening day in day out, especially in work, bores me. We all have routine and structure in our lives, it is unavoidable and desirable to run them.
When we eventually come out of this period we will have to get used a changing and changed world. For many it will be uncomfortable and difficult. For some the change will be profound. Change will affect us all. For younger people it may be change that is for the rest of their lives and it will become their normal? For us older ones it will not be so difficult. We have experience of many changes in our lives and not quite so long to live our acceptance of change will be easier (or should be)
Whatever happens next, whatever changes come your way I urge you embrace them, explore, let your imagination run amok, you never know new possibilities may take you where you never thought you’d go!
How many holidays, trips, weekend breaks, business journeys have been postponed or cancelled? I am sorry if your plans have had to change especially if it was the trip of a lifetime? It. Is frustrating and upsetting. It has a mental price and can affect your wellbeing. We have postponed our summer holiday to see our friends in Crete. It is disappointing but unlike many we are still here and can travel later in the year (we hope?) Think how much more you will now look forward to those activities you cannot do now and how much more meaning they will have when you can?
Stay well
