Day 48
So what does “alert” mean? Awake and barely aware of one’s surroundings? Sharp sighted as a hawk spotting danger from distance? Ambiguity comes out of politicians mouths all the time. If your going to say something that can be misinterpreted then don’t say anything. If your going to announce change then be clear , crystal clear. You can do this, you cannot do that. It is a difficult situation, almost the perfect definition of a rock and a hard place! I have said in one of my previous diatribes that no government are in an envious position, they can’t do right for doing right!
People being people will no doubt stretch the interpretation of this “loosening” to it’s limit. Many have flaunted the guidelines already, this will only embolden those who do that now.
We have lived most of our lives in relative freedom. Allowed within the law to more of less do what we want. The difficulty of living under long term restrictions will put a strain on the population which will be enormously difficult to manage or enforce. Tell me one person that any of us know who isn’t champing at the bit to get back to “normality”?
Wendy joked this morning that I could claim my regular golfing partner who is 13 years older than me could be introduced as my “father” so as we could play together.
We shall wait for further instructions as they say.
I am encouraged to read of the government intention to put together the package to enhance cycling. Any advancement of cycling should be applauded. We shall see if the plans actually come to fruition but let’s be optimistic.
The weather is fluctuating at present, really warm, no breeze and then really windy and chilly. Sun bathe one day, wrap up the next. Already the predictions are for the hottest year on record. Let’s hope the spring and summer weather at least compensates for the restrictive lives we are going to have to live?
Stay well
