Day 56
Did anyone notice I skipped Day 54? I only just did myself. So to make up for it I will be writing an extra long one today! Just kidding!
It’s Monday? Week 9? You know when I read my horoscope all those months ago it never predicted this, it did say that Jupiter was in Uranus although I did not believe it would fit!
We have two cats ( I must have told you this before?) A girl called Madame Roxallana and a boy Lucifer Pudding. Both were reformed by us (I typed re-homed but spell check may have been more accurate). She was Queen of the castle and then along came the big lad. They kind of tolerate each other. He chases her she bops him and always gets the food first. They are dearly loved and like all cats a pain in the arse! She has a habit of puking. He likes to grab Wendy’s attention and won’t move until he does.
Over 40 years of being together (all but 11 days) we have been the humans of a lot of cats and one dog. Pedigree and moggy we have had them all. We had a Russian Blue from a rescue who we called Savage! His ability to dig his claws in for no apparent reason was legendary and painful!
We had a grey Burmese, called Raffles, who was so placid I could walk to the newsagent and buy the Sunday paper with him wrapped round my neck and happily stayed there until we got back! I still remember the look on the shop owners face when he realised it was not a scarf and was purring!
A moggy called Dennis (another reformer) has left me a reminder of him, a scar on the back of my right hand, which he gave me as I tried to put him in the cat basket to take him to the vet!
I cannot remember a time even before Wendy and I got married when there was not a cat around. We only have to look on our abundance of social media to understand how much humans like cats. They are intriguing creatures, fickle, aloof, loving, clever, unpredictable, demanding and much more. It is easy to understand why they became domesticated and why we are still fascinated by them and our relationship with them.
Our two current incumbents are both a source of daily pleasure and annoyance which sums up perfectly most peoples cat experience.
So how will your week pan out? Are you able to return to work, did you never stop? Will you find ways of occupying your time? Wendy and I have both signed up for an online course with Future Learn. The provide interesting and comprehensive, well thought out courses on all sorts of subjects and topics. You are never to old to learn and stimulating your brain is a pleasure.
Stay well
